Select the network adapter you use as your uplink (in case you have more than one) from the dropdown and put the 1492 in the MTU field next to it.
Save, reboot.
No need to change the other things.

Just for the record, MTU problems are usually related to PMTU, rather than endpoint MTU, and when there is a problem with it, it's usually for the game protocol itself (which is UDP-based and therefore cares about packet sizes), whereas resources are loaded over TCP, which can adapt to the PMTU in question.

Please verify, however, that this problem also occurs with the default client.

Well, it seems that you have some kind of connection problem, but without being able to try it from your location, I can't really say I have any good method for debugging the problem. The obvious thing, I guess, is: Are you using WiFi? If so, please try and see if a wired connection works better.

Im not using WiFi and the connection works good. In another connection the problem persists
