I want to do a proper solution to them instead of something hacky.

Considering about making the entire map winter manually, or just ignoring winter tile types all together.
Either way, it'll take some thought, and I'm going to hold off on implementing it just yet.

if tiles send to you have data of when it was created - you can just ignore tiles made during ingame winter

The less is known about how this 'might' be done at the world-map server side the better I think.

It's really not a problem filtering out snow and ice tiles on the server side.

Alongside the grid time, which I could use to filter out seasons, there is also the option of just reading the tile data.
Each grid contains a tile set and winter tiles seem to be unique.

gfx/tiles/snow
gfx/tiles/ice

Being two that I see pop-up in any map with winter.

There exists a plethora of ways to not include snow tiles, I'm just not in a rush to add them right now.
Hopefully later on this week.

Just in case. Don't forget there are mountain areas that have snow all year long.

Those are also labeled seperately.

That's a pity, because ridges are significant for planning a route and sometimes are the only landmark around to estimate position of an object.

Anyways, the map is cool.

Aha, thanks. I did not know that mountain snow was separately labelled. That definitely simplifies things. 8-)

The Amber client issue with winter tiles has been fixed, so hopefully that makes the mapping less painful

So, judging by this new map, i assume everybody initially spawns on the central continent?

Allegedly there are some that did not, but the vast majority did at the very least.
