Question about maps

Question about maps

Most of the maps I've seen have "trails" of mapped terrain towards the outside. Is this the way the real map looks ingame, or is it because those areas haven't been mapped out yet?

the map is a square,those places arent mapped

btw if you want to know who will dominate the map in the upcoming world -

So no one has been to those spots! If so, there's so much terrain unexplored!!!

How does the map update??

nobody that has been there had uploaded tiles i guess
