Full Direction Rotation Camera View (for Amber Client)

Postby Helwor » Tue Dec 11, 2018 4:53 pm

Hello, I'm new to the game, just started 3 days ago, tho I've found Amber Client and was quite happy to see you could use ortho camera to snap camera straight to N,W, S, E
But it was not possible (?) to use together bad and ortho camera views to incrementally go N, NW, W, SW, S, SE, E, NE (and vice versa) with left and right keys.

{EDIT : I misinterpretated what was bad and ortho camera I was so noob at this time.
what I meant was doing this : https://lambda.sx/bFbI.mp4 )
I still find that very useful and keep using it today even if it's not perfect and can be annoying in some situation.
I started learning js and scripting for game since some time. I will try to code it in js when I get back to coding.}

So I made this script to do it.
https://pastebin.com/G6Vf0av0
(copy paste the text into a .txt file then rename the .txt file to .ahk and double click it)

This need AutoHotkey to be installed for it to work.

Toggle the script On/Off with Pause key
If you want to invert keys just change in the script "Right::" to "Left::" and "Left::" to "Right::"

My script just simulate Ctrl+arrow when you press arrow when it is needed to pass from bad camera to ortho camera.
You might notice the little annoyance when passing from South-East view to East, this is not because of my script but the client itself which do almost a full turn of camera counterclock wise instead of doing an 1/8th turn clock wise. I found a workaround for this, but it's not perfect.

By the way, I've also made a script to use Shift + Right Click for trading identical items (instead of Alt + Right Click of the Amber Client)
and replaced then the shift + Right Click by a long Right Click
https://pastebin.com/2n9br7r6

Feel free to test

PS : I'm looking to get my maps from the original version to the Amber Client maps, if anyone knows

It is quite possible to add this feature into the client but there is no point in doing so really or it just hasn't been the top priority of most of the client developers. A lot of these cameras and different positions were added in as client developers wanted to try something new or wanted just a different angle together and stopped at the point where the new camera or feature was working and not with the intention of making it work with rest of the client features. What you did was a bit clever but if you want the change to happen, maybe send the client developers like Amber a piece of java code for the client to make this work or maybe if I have free time I can send it as well because a lot of people will be hesitant to use this hacky approach to get orientation corrected.
