[Having a private map would be 100% better but he continues to do so for the good of the community.

His map tiles are contributed by volunteers (maybe some by himself, I don't know, at least he has the upload things every world). Making a simple map site is 1 or 2 days of work at the most, depending on how familiar one is with map library.

Alg and Rawrz work together a lot, and Alg consistently has put up and hosted the world map for years without asking for a dime (unlike someone haha)

What is this thing about not asking money == good? Are we buddhist monks living in some monastery? Or just another dumb argument to write some shubla hate?

I've put literal thousands of dollars into hosting my map over the past decade. Numerous hours spent building, maintaining, and helping others. And never once did I believe that I was entitled to any form of compensation for my work.

What the heck do you run your server on if it costs thousands of dollars to host? I've not had any problems in W12 with 3.84€ / month hosting. Which I upgraded for W13 though, as the server is now doing merging and tile generation. (ok I understand the temptation to buy some way too overpowered servers and maybe they are cheaper now, but anyway:)
You could ask for donations more openly if you need financial support for hosting it, no one is resisting. Can't really understand why me asking for them to host the server would be a bad thing.

If you wanted, you could add markers to your map and some client integration so my map would be useless. But you haven't so far. If you do, I don't care, all I want is good map and markers and possibly player tracking icons too.

Initially in W11 or W12 when I copied your tiles your map was very slow (for some reason) and lacked, and still lacks, markers.
Now I don't even use your tiles, so there is even less reason to complain.

Again, are we some monks in monastery? Who cares if you ask money or not! The hourly pay would be a magnitude better in any real work if one was after money, donations are just a nice bonus and fake-reason to buy beefier servers if you get any!

To be fair, I too wonder how it comes that SnuggleSnail suddenly emerges from his cave to do the community this great favor of "exposing" shubla. I mean, I don't want to imply that I have evidence of anything nor that it necessarily is out of any evil intention. But it does make me wonder what the background is. Frankly, all of this feels like a personal fight that I don't really want to be a part of.

I'm not afraid about users of my client, but the food site and map site becoming shit because no one will contribute any data to them. Somebody who would enable the option likely doesn't care if its enabled by default

If that is so, though, is it really so much to ask for that you be more up-front and obvious about it in your client thread?

Is removing the hide button really more obvious though? It will just become a wall of text that no one will read.
The only bad feedback has been on forum from those who hate and write shit about me 24/7 on all other places too, the actual client users are very satisfied and don't really care.

Maybe I'll add hourly notification about client collecting data instead of stretching... Just to make sure no one is being tricked!

If removing the hide button would make people not read it, how is it different from it being behind the hide button? Its the same mechanically for your purposes.
