I finally got around to start collecting statistics on custom-client use.

I like the leaderboards, thank you. Would you next maybe implement some character statistic related leaderboards?

Here's latest Nightdawg comment, as an example, when he ragedropped his client support

Note: Loftar usually says "I have already pushed all the changes 2 weeks ahead of the world wipe", then proceeds to break 5 res files and push more updates 1 hour before the wipe.
Idk if it's schizophrenia or whatever, but just so you know.

Every custom client is fucked

What happened? I've been trying to only push changes that should have been mergeable since like two years.

Well, most of the custom clients have many additional features and the implementation may not be exactly mergeable.
Some people try to put a lot of custom code everywhere across your codebase instead of extracting it as much as possible to minimize the code changes in the original source code.
Also, over the years, I've seen some questionable architectural decisions (for example overusing singletons). Some people even tried to re-format the original code, god save their poor souls.

Even if people do not have the exact "merge" issues, there are problems with broken functionality. For example, recent changes in the pagina may have broken a lot of clients because every client added their own menu elements.
Changing render or resources tends to break performance optimizations, etc.

I still very much like to see that the game is being actively developed. I hope these changes are a precursor to something more impactful though...
