One quick color suggestion....

Postby Ferinex » Thu Jun 04, 2009 11:13 pm

I would recommend changing the color you use to show how 'full' you are when you get to that stage of hunger in the hunger bar. Not because it's not coordinated well, but because colorblind people (at least I) can't tell the difference between the hungry and full colors when they are laid on top of each other. I find myself squinting and finally giving in and hovering over the bar after each mouthful to see where it's at. I can not tell the difference between the two colors.

I actually think that I did consider this possibility at some point. We'll look into changing it. :)

What colours would fix that without looking weird?
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Often bumps are bad, but this is a good suggestion. Small usability improvements, especially disability aids, are very important.

it's worth elaborating that I am using an LCD screen and it's worse if it's high on the screen (ie I look up at it, which I normally do because it's at the top of the UI).

If I pull it all the way to the bottom of the LCD and look down at it I can see the difference, but that's annoying so I normally just check the tooltip.

just have a single bar split into four or five 'bubbles' with the meter changing colors as each one is filled

(■■■■|■■■■■■|■■■■■■■■■■|■■■■)
(■■■■|■■■■■■|■■■■■■■■■■|■■■■)
(■■■■|■■■■■■|■■■■■■■■■■|■■■■)
(■■■■|■■■■■■|■■■■■■■■■■|■■■■)

or something like that anyways you get the idea

I like Jackards Idea, but I wouldn't mind if they blinked a bit along with the color change.

Well, Randy I always was confused on what you see and now that I do I must say I sympathize for you.
That must be a bitch to try and differentiate things.
I apologize for every joke I've made.

Back on topic, Jackards bar idea sounds great and might be more visually appealing too.
