Silos

As the topic says, for people that have a whole lot of flour, we need something more than just several chests. Preferably a storage building that can't be moved, but you can store large amounts of flour (or wheat seeds, one or the other) into.

Dunno if its already in the works or not, but just kind of throwing it out there.

Barns do the same thing.Drop-down Silos were not invented until 1848 which are the ones you probobly imagine. Before then people just piled them in barns and windmills and such.

The earliest silo was just a pit in the ground filled with animal feed. Which was found in ancient syria.

The grumpiest tree you ever did see.

Character: Hamel, previously Chieftain of Ancient Bottleneck, a founding father of the Confederation of Bottleneck. Currently a hibernating soul.

Yeah, I think you're looking for the granary, which was the forerunner of the Silo. I do like that idea though. We should have a big building where you can store seeds or certain food stuffs in stacks. Good one Hamel.

necroin this post because i think its a great idea. Just harvesting my 150 wheat plants when it struck me how nice it would be to have a silo to store the grain so i can process it all at once. I would like to see a silo type building that would allow you to put wheat seeds in it, but not like a chest, more like a building site. Each silo could hold like 250 seeds and you deposit and withdraw just like a construction site, allowing mass storage without cluttering the screen.

I like this building but why not also have a small scale version in a furniture item, call it 'bin' or something to that effect, storage is a bit more then a cupboard and has cupboard carrying rules (carry only when empty), construction would be slightly easier then cupboard (6 boards?). When the first item is placed in the bin it sets the bin to only accept more of that same item and the bins graphic changes to reflect the item its holding (heaping pile of the item appears in the bin), emptying the bin releases the lock and the bin can changed to another item type. Item quality is retained and the player can choose to withdraw items of either the highest, lowest and possibly median quality.

It's a good suggestion especially if they can make the quality sort wheel function with quantum storage containers =)
