Poison

Postby murphylawson » Sat Jul 24, 2010 11:43 pm

I got this idea in a thread, but I think we should move the discussion on poison here, to let the glass dagger idea be properly thought about. I propose posion, this would not be a incredibly powerful weapon, and as DoG pointed out, it would be useless in hunting. I sugest that it should not be too damaging, but it should not work the same way as weapons. Maybe something that changes IP, possibly even works like a leech, or a reverse leech.

It'd also be nice if you could slowly make yourself immune using a certain stat (harder to get) that counteracts poison, you can only get it by poisoning yourself in very small amounts and hope you get it (much like leeches, it damages you steadily, and you can only hope it raises the stat by luck).

Just a suggestion anyway, I don't care much how poison is done, there's many cool ways for it to be done, but as long as it's done it's cool.

Maybe a basic poison made of nettles would be good for newbies, and a more advanced recipe, made from many ingredient, could be more powerful, and harder to get.

I'm sorry, who pointed it out? :|

I suggest that there not be only one poison because that would be foolish. There should be a stamina-damaging poison, a HHP-damaging poison, a SHP-damaging poison, poisons to damage various statistics, et cetera.

We have marijuana and tobacco in the game, so why would we have generic 'Poison'? Where's my arsenic and belladonna and mercury and all that other fun stuff?

DatOneGuy pointed it out, the idea behind it is, if you kill a cow by poisoning it, and you butcher it anyway, you wouldn't be able to tell the meat is poisoned, and it could be fun to sell products made with the tainted beef anyway. If you consumed the tainted meat you would be harmed as if you consumed some amount of the poison itself.

I'd like to have stronger poisons too, basic poisons for arrows would be nice though.

Actually Winterbrass stated it first, I simply elaborated further on the matter :)

I'd like to be able to sell poisoned foods.

Same here. Having a chance to kill someone much stronger than you with poisoned food would be awesome. Lots of opportunity for intrigue.

Copper (II) Sulfate, while sort of dangerous, and not in use anymore, was used historically for purging poison. Of course it wasn't used in the right period, but we have access to copper ore, and in certain places, the copper in the ore is Copper (II) Sulfate Pentahydrate. Some other cultures would use tusks, claiming them to be unicorn horns. In one place in Greece, the most popular antidote was made from a variety of herbs, and duck blood.
