Lower Level Melee Weapons

I propose the addition of low level melee weapons. Tools used just for the purpose of fighting.

Wooden Club - people who want to feel like they're really fighting with a weapon would probably go for the wooden club. It should only be a bit stronger than the stone axe.
Copper Sword - before someone says that it's impractical, people actually did use these things before they discovered bronze.

somebody already suggested low level spears recently I believe (i like the idea) and low lever farming tools such as scythes. Clubs wouldn't be a bad idea but I would consider a stone axe to be more powerful than a club.

I've been hit in the head with a sharp rock, and I've been hit in the head with a wooden stick. The stick hurt more :P.

A wooden club should do absolutely NO injury damage, but more short term damage.

you bring up a good point.. there should be different types of weapons.. some that focus more on soft health damage and others more on hard health damage..

Good point indeed, but I don't think you should pursue it seriously until a more advanced health/injury system is in place. The more ways to deal damage you have when it comes around, the more you have to re-write, potentially from scratch.

Hatchet - A small metal axe used to chop wood ~ Increased chopping rate
Iron handaxe - An unbalanced axe used as a weapon ~ I'm not exactly war oriented, but I guess it could be a decently high damage weapon :P

These are what we want! Beautiful upgrades in life!

Bone axe (like the bone saw) to let the player use more of what they kill in hunting to further improve their hunting.
Deer antler pick axe. (these existed in real life)

It all depends on the rock you're digging in. Like chalk, for instance.
