New Skill: Porter's Wisdom

Postby ciroth » Tue Oct 05, 2010 12:57 pm

Skill Name: Porterman's Wisdom
Requirements: Yeomanry, Solider Training, Base STR 100+ AGI 50+
Type: Passive
LP Requirement: 20,000

Allows players to Walk instead of crawl around when lifting objects with normal stamina penalties.

Thoughts: Would be more for the peaceful and "village oriented" players, a bonus skill for those who are able to survive long enough and develop their characters enough. Not a game breaking bonus, but would be a noticeable different when lugging a boat across SG.

Smart use of a Cart will do the same. (very village (paved) orientated)

+ don't see how "lugging a boat across SG" is village(reason) orientated.

Using STR to allow advanced players to move faster while carryign objects or pulling a cart on bad terrain etc. has been suggested before. Definately support the concept but idk about the numbers provided. Something like this is most likely going to not happen until Loftar gets around to a new speed system just like he's dragged ass on autospeed since I suggested it a year ago.

Just add weight to items/objects and have an encumbrance system that automatically sets you to highest speed allowed.

Baskets are not that heavy! :)

I don't mind crawling speed while carrying things. It has to make you aware of your situation more since you put yourself in a vulnerable position (encumbered by an outside object or container). I don't think stats should magically negate this situation.

With boats, perhaps make it so you can spend a rope or two on an empty cart and strap a boat to it? But even then carts are already marginalized by crossroads and gates (since you have to always keep gates shut and carrying keys around with you is dangerous).

Jackard, could you perhaps elaborate on your reasons for 'Just no'?

Sometimes I get it, in this case it seems like a perfectly reasonable solution, though I'd just prefer to see a 'boat trailer' purpose built for carrying a boat.
