Steel shields, towershields, bucklers (for use while arching [is that a word?]), bracers, would all be nice. I hope there is a little more variety in our shields, just like there is in our weapons.

I agree, if there is metal armor, why not a metal shield?

No metal shields. They never existed in real life. The reason being, that you wouldn't be able to lift it fast enough. Metal reinforced shields are fine, however.

But, I don't see how they could be any better than a normal shield, in-game. As the only thing shields do, at the moment, is allow you to use the "shield" maneuver.

Edit: Well, entirely metal shields did exist, but they weren't used in combat (besides bucklers), which was what I meant to say.

Really, what is the difference. Are my sneakers leather shoes, or are they rubber shoes reinforced with leather? Or are they leather shoes reinforced with rubber? :P

A metal shield is made of solid metal. While a metal reinforced shield is typically made of wood, with some metal to help hold it together.

Shields should have hp so they can be destroyed like armour. It makes perfect sense, as it wasn't unusual for shields to get broken in battle. Also, shields should be a trade-off between defence and attack speed. So with a tower shield you would have low damage per second and high defence, while a buckler would provide low defence and decent dps. Best dps would be achieved with no shield at all (but then, why not use the axe?).

Thats not what I want at all.

Just let me put things on my shield.

Want a fur covered shield.

Maybe a leather covered shield.

Gold covered shield.

Let me do that I don't care about stats.

I want cool looking shields too, but it's hard to justify using Jorb's time to draw multiple versions of the same thing that are all identical mechanics-wise. He could be using those man-hours to draw new animals, tools or buildings.
