wouldnt it make sece that when you plnt a tree soil quality counts, i feel that the quality of map generated trees quality to somehow be attached to the soil quality beneath them.

I agree on some level but I think that it would cause a lot of problems that tree grower's just wouldn't want to see.

what kind of problems? they allready have to find good soil spots to grow good trees.
or were you thinking the quality of the soil the trees were planted on should matter?

IMO both trees and crops should depend on soil quality, but first the quality layer needs an update so it's not all q10 with better dots here and there but a patchwork of uniform quality areas of appreciable size. That, and it should be possible to slowly improve soil quality. The idea is that good land should be a very valuable commodity, which would promote meaningful conflict.

Improvement of soil quality eh... cue fertizilizer collection from cows and sheep. Could be interesting. Or compost heaps...

:)

If the population, or lack of, would play a role here. It could also add a additional emigration incentive. Thinking slow and/or long duration effect though.

I believe part of what he means is that 'where you plant' trees should matter, unless he means ONLY the map-gen trees should matter? I've heard many people say that where you plant the tree should matter, plant it near hq soil it'll be better q, etc. Always seems as if it i'll work out bad though.
