Stay Signed In on forums

Postby Repercussionist » Tue Nov 30, 2010 7:46 pm

It would be nice if we had a checkbox or something like the "Remember Me" buttons on some other sites that keep you logged into the forums when you close the browser. It would help a lot, especially when I log in from somewhere that doesn't have a form cache either. I also tried looking under Account and the settings under Profile, but to no avail.

You don't always have the option to install other browsers. For example, on my phone, or other handheld device that uses a default browser for internet.

Well it's the browser's job. I got my browser on my phone to do it. :)

Your browser on your
phone. That doesn't solve it for
everyone. Whether the browser
can do it or not, it wouldn't hurt. Plus,
there are still people who's phones won't
save it, still other handheld devices that
won't, and still people who don't trust
technology enough to let it remember
their stuff. It's just a courtesy. I can't believe
this is being debated. >.<

Remember Login Info isn't really much of a solution though, because if you're logged out and reading the forums and want to reply, it takes you to the login screen (which is fine) but once you're done logging in it kicks you back to the main forums page, so you've lost the thread/post you were going to reply to. Also it seems to be pretty random with how often it logs you out, which can be kind of annoying.

Nah, it auto-signs in for me on Firefox. No clicky needed.

Well my point is, if the browser doesn't do it, the browser probably wipes all cookies, and all temp settings every time you shut off your phone, either disable this or live with it, that's how all websites do autologins really.
