Horse and Cart?

Horse and Cart?

Postby Loopoo » Mon Aug 10, 2009 5:36 pm

I think adding Horses to the game would be fantastic. There is nothing more I'd want to do than fill my cart full of Iron Bars, Bread and many other items and head off to the nearest town.

Just imagine, filling up your cart, readying up your horses and setting of out town on the main road. You could hire escorts to protect your cart from bandits, or just to look good :D I think it'd be a really fun idea and it'd increase trading a lot. That way, I could haul carts around easier and not have to spend days travelling around :p

Obviously, I doubt this will be implemented soon, but I just thought i'd put it out there. Most likely, this would come along when animal domestication is introduced to the game.

One big obstacle to trade is the RoB teleport thing. If there where more consumable objects that could not be moved this way, requiring shipments and all, that would be a start. The other problem is that when you are trading, you have no protection from thieves en route if you have to log off...

If those where addressed, I'd be trading today.
Surprise.

If the community set up a sort of regular marketplace at or near RoB then teleporting would matter much less, since it would be about being at the place where everyone goes to buy, or not finding customers.

horses would be neat, but you don't necessarily need horses to implement this, because

cow and cart

it may not be the fastest thing, but it would allow you to use more than one cart at a time

Cow and Cart? Explain. Using this method, would I be able to carry a cart myself, and then have 3-4 cows carry others carts full of logs?

yeah

If they add an Animal Handling skill we might also see:
~ Larger carts that can only be pulled by animals
~ Carts/Wagons you can ride in
    ~ Animals you can ride

I'm thinking it could be implemented in a theoretical way, this would be somewhat easier to code, (atleast I think so) due to it being this:

~REQUIREMENTS!~
-Animal Husbandry>-Animal Taming (to make it 'your' animal.)>-Animal Herding(Allowing you to set it to follow you or, control it directly, but also limitedly. An animal 'bestiality' bar could be used for simulating wild animals being tamed.)

Dancing bear in the town square, anyone? Edit: And then going on a blood rage totally decimating and setting half the town on fire with it's lazers it fires from it's raging eyesockets?

With Animal Taming, you would be able to make an animal specifically yours, and use bait to indirectly make the animal move. With ruminants and equines, you would be able to hitch them onto plows, or carts and guide them, allowing you to also sprint. Also with animal taming, a sub-skill could be made for Riding.

With Animal Herding, you could hold a Herder's Stick that would enable you to give direct commands to your animals, or just simple things like follow long, follow close, for things in a herd.

That's a word that means you have sex with animals. =/

I would support this though. It would be fun travelling in a cart! =D
