Yet another healing idea

Postby Kazerenai » Thu Jan 20, 2011 11:02 am

I read some topics about it but still decided to make my own. Also beg you pardon for my chaotic thoughts.

Seeing as we have some basic healing as gauze and leeches and nothing more i'd like to suggest some ideas.
As was said many times there should be further introduction into medicine based on herbalism after first aid.
In my language there is some nice old words for this but in english i found only healing and quackery and it doesn't feel right.
Let's skip the section with decoctions and extracts from herbs as i dont have confidence that i can make it sensible(but i'd like to see some suggestions).
"Resurrection". Here is the real intention behind this topic.
Well not really resurrection. After your hhp goes to 0 you enter in state of coma. If you not retrieved in 3 in-game hours you die. If retrieved, applied gauze(probably with some herbs), and placed in a bed, you will be here for next 3 in-game days. Also gauze will be needing reapplying each in-game day.
If all this done you will be living thing once again. But probably with some penalty to stats.
How it sounds? Suggestion, critique, ideas? Feel free to add.

Anything with ressurection in it sounds AWESOME to me, but only because I have 3 ancestors already

I kinda like the idea for a character being able to fall into a state where it must be threated by other players in order to survive, but i don't think that current shp/hhp system would allow any good implementation of this. Herbalist medicine also sounds good, there might be lots and lots of interesting stuff to fit in there. But again, current health mechanics doesn't actually require it, granted the gap between leaches and bandages are considerable and maybe one more item can fit there, still given the health risk and health system remain how they are i don't think there are many fun stuff to do there.

In any case, i for sure doesn't like the coma idea, taking away perma, and possible sudden, death would take away some of the charm as well. Sure that may help against ranger bow snipes, but meh, i like ranger bow snipes.

Make it so that they have to drag your almost dead body back to your house, no teleportation, old fashioned walking or boating.

And the longer it takes for you to get into a bed and get gauze applied on your head, the more crappier you'll be once you wake up.

At least, IF you wake up. :)
I like apple juice.

Nobody tells you to not kill people that came for body. And perma is stiil here. 3 in-game hours is 1 real hour. It can be cut to like 1 in-game hour. You sure your friends can find you in like 20 minutes? And make a bed there? Good if that were in village or in neddleleaf forest. In nature you prabably would need a leanto with spruce bough bed to provide minimal conditions to treating.

It maybe archaic in english but in our language it used nowadays to describe a people working as pharmaceutist in drugstores.
So for me it's not really it. But thanks for suggestion anyway. For general english speaking audience it maybe appropriate word.

Resurrection

Hell no. Maybe new ways of healing would be alright, although gameplay-wise they don't seem that necessary anymore after the last update.

Read again. It's not really resurrection in it classical mean. If character turned into a skeleton it dead for sure. But while it's still "fresh" you have a chance.

Also question probably to J&L: i saw grey\white numbers poping out over dead character. what is it?
