Human sacrifice

Postby GalacticCow » Thu Apr 14, 2011 1:06 pm

Ok, before you shout out about how this idea sucks without even reading the post at all, I just want to say to all you trolls out there that if you troll this post then I will personally find you IRL and kill you in your sleep.

That being said, constructive critisizm is appreciated.

Now, for the idea: I propose the ability to sacrifice a human being at a special alter. The skill to sacrifice a human (Something like satanic ritualism, The Greatest Offering, etc.) would be as expensive, if not more, then Murder. In addition, the alter would be constructed out of rare materials, maybe gold, bear teeth, or troll bones.

The person being sacrificed would be a willing sacrifice only. You can't just kidnap someone and sacrifice them to the gods, that's just mean. In order to prevent abuse of this system (creating and sacrificing alts), the player being sacrificed must have some kind of requirements. These are something like:
-full tradition
-50 numen points
-20+ on every skill
40+ on every FEP skill (I forget what the name for these states are

Thus, human sacrifice would be very, very difficult to do.

Now, why would you even consider being sacrificed, or sacrificing? what does it give?

My idea:
Being sacrificed, obviously, kills the player. When he/she reincarnates, I propose some kind of special item reward, like a druid cape or the ability to change your hair like you could way back when. This would be the gift from the ancestors and the gods.

Now, the sacrificer would also gain a reward. This would be, maybe, 200 numen points or something. Possibly a new combat skill, like "wrath of Brodgar" or something.

Upon sacrifice, the sacrificial alter would be destroyed (the alter was part of the sacrifice, with its gold and whatnot).

In conclusion, it would provide an actual reason NOT to have full change, promote reincarnation and death, and provide exclusive items and perks that would be too powerful to have otherwise.

Please comment! any and all non-trolling comments are appreciated!

Wtf..

No offense, but no matter what the numbers and such in this idea are WAY too overpowered. This is fucking psycho, and would without a doubt just encourage alting, a specialized village could easily grind an alt to these stats in a day.

Change some of your ideas or this thread will get pure -1's for sure.

So the idea is that you can sacrifice yourself with almost no loses whatsoever to get loads of free numen and cool stuff ? Seems stupid to me <_<

Replace humans with dead bodies and change reward for the percent of LP as it used to be earlier.

Ha ha ha, no. Just absolutely no. The numbers you have provided are a clear indication that you have a tenuous grasp of the game.

Ritualistic human sacrifice is not exclusive to those silly Aztec.
Satanic worship does not include it however but I digress...

And I'll gloss over the headache I get when you are perfectly willing to kill a person for fun, profit and capes. But kidnapping them, or say, using prisoners of war (Which Perun would approve of I found out, after some google-research) would just be mean. This is not Hello Kitty online, people die to worse things every damn day. Bears for example.

This is not a well thought out idea, the gods are not a extremely draconian and expensive delivery service for toys and haircuts. It cheapens life even more than I thought was possible. This is abusable to high hell and I'm having serious concerns about the OPs psychological profile for coming up with it in the first place, or that he simply did not do the research.

And including a death threat in the first line... That's just rude, dude.

edit: tl;dr: "I approve of Human sacrifice as a concept, but not for something that could been solved with a barber NPC in the character creation chamber. Could been better. Try again."

Call me a pussy, but the idea of ritualized human sacrifice leaves a bad taste in my mouth; even sacrifice of a willing human. It just doesn't seem to fit, regardless.

I'd not necessarily be opposed to the sacrifice of live animals, of course; I'm talking live chickens, pigs, cows, sheep... Those feel like they'd fit the game a lot better.

Also, everybody else is right; this is way too easy to abuse. Take the numen gain way down for the recipient. Alternatively, a "buff" can be conferred on the person, or persons, involved in the ritual, proportionate to the quality/type of the animal (You think you're gonna impress the ancestors with your Ql 8 chicken? Please.), instead of the numen gain.

My proposition, here, probably isn't very good itself, but... Eh.
