There are a few things that really bother me about the current quality system... For one thing, while it makes sense that chunks of lumber cut with a poor stone axe are also poor enough to decrease the quality of, say, clogs made with them, if you take these rough-hewn chunks and then burn them to make coal, it shouldn't really matter if you chewed the chunks out with your teeth- the coal's going to be pretty much constant in quality. Some general species of wood might make better or worse coal, but the quality of the chunks just doesn't matter.
I understand that there's sound technical and gameplay reasons for doing it this way, but it still annoys me.
It's the same deal with water; while yes, there's good reasons from the technical perspective, how exactly can you have water that's ten times better than normal, particularly without processing it? You can't get better than pure water, really. And if it's not pure, there's only a few ppm of contaminants before the water is practically deadly with disease.
And how a few salmonella organisms can actually make your leather turn out worse I don't know.
So, Let me be clear here- I realize that it's not likely to change, and that there's probably no way to fairly fix this without redoing the entire thing, but it still just bugs me.
Surprise.
