Upgraded Village

Postby Awyn » Tue Jul 12, 2011 11:59 am

I was thinking, maybe we could add a little bit of clan options to a village.
I thought about these things:

Village Level
Each time someone gains lp, the village drains a very small amount of it. About 1%. The village levels up when it has the required amount of lp. For example, 1000 to get to level 2. 5000 for level 3 etc.

It must be not very hard to get higher from level one, but each level time you level up, the next level must cost a few thousand more lp's.

Examples:

Level 1 to 2 = 1000 lp
Level 2 to 3 = 5000 lp
Level 3 to 4 = 10000 lp
Level 4 to 5 = 15000 lp

Village Skills
Each time the village levels up, it gets a skill point. You can add this to things that buffs your stats. Each skill has its own level. It can go up to level five.

Level one requires 1 SP
Level two requires 2 SP

etc.

For example,

Skill Intelligence
Level one = + 1 int
Level two = + 2 int
Level three = + 4 int
Level four = + 5 int
Level give = + 7 int

Emblem
A village emblem, this is very hard to get. The lawspeaker must pay 1 million lp (or more) to make their own emblem. This emblem will apear above a persons head, or next to his name.

Passive bonuses have of course been suggested before, but I do think that adding them would be a step in the right direction for village life. Some of what you said here is alright but most of it seems too easy. (ie. LP to get anything is always super easy at some point)

Also it's probably better that you only get these passive bonuses while on your village claim rather than just being a member of the village.

Isn't being in a village a reward in itself? Going at it as a hermit means you have to work 10x harder to have the same things.

Tried and I can tell you I had everything that villages had. Problem is only getting high quality raw resources, but with new system in w5 it's not even hard to make 100k LP dummy for vandalizing nodes :) Oops another flaw.

Authority needs to be fleshed out as a whole, and so do villages being 'better'.

Villages and allies and sub village system as well of course.

I would like to see more depth to villages, but not this way.

As a note, I've seen these kinds of systems in other games. They worked fairly well, but they had one major difference from HnH: They were all level grind games and the guild/alliance level systems didn't provide any real bonuses to PvP.

CCP implemented an idea similar to this. However, it wasn't to provide a bonus to corporations and alliances, it was a hinderance. It forced them to focus efforts in a handful of systems instead of spreading out over half the known galaxy. In other words, before this system, a corporation just took system after system and as long as they could get people there in time to block anyone attempting to take it over, it was no big deal, and it was very hard to mount enough offense to make a defense retreat very far. This was just like Pandemonium does now with just flagging up an entire SG and more.
