Why I think Haven and Hearth isn't too popular

Postby 0wolfboy0 » Mon Dec 31, 2012 6:16 pm

Let me first start by saying, I love the game, it is a great achievement, and I enjoy playing it, but the problem comes from not having to play with anyone, I used to play with a bunch of real life friends, but problems within the game frustrated them and they got tired of it.

The game features some great qualities such as hardcore survival, good dynamic servers and massive worlds, but the reason for it's unpopularity is because it only targets a very small audience, of which being groups of people looking for a severely hardcore game, of which your sole purpose is to try and ruin everyone else's gaming experience, you can't play this game alone, you can't start off a new character in the middle of a current world, and you can't not know what to do.

Saying this, the game has some great aspects, I love the different features such as foraging, fishing, hunting, building, crafting, surviving. It features and amazing huge world engine in which you are dropped off in the middle of the early earth to build and live, for what purpose, no one knows.

The game has it's imbalances, some being the more you play the more you win, and others such as some times there is nothing to do, but the main reason I think it has a limited target audience is because of the developers inflexibility, I would like to see more range of the game spread out, such things as private servers, higher customization, more stable servers, maybe varying music other than the only two.

Love the game, don't hate me for my opinion. Also the lag drives me crazy. there are 60 people online :/

I want the game to be more popular, I think if the servers were more stabile, maybe private servers introduced. the game would be better.

Yeah, all of those reasons you listed? Bullshit, this game has seen quite the popularity. Here are the REAL reasons why you only have a 60 player population now:

-Lag
-Lag
-Lag
-Lag
-Bugs

If I left anything out, feel free to let us all know.

popularity you say? 95,000 registered members isn't much. I'm sorry to say but it really shows what the community of this game is based on, every time one posts it is either agreement, or flamer's spamming.

I'm sorry to say that 95,000 registered members is a damn good amount of people considering that there is literally NO advertising for this game: just strictly word of mouth. If this game had legitimate advertising of any kind, I'm sure that figure would be orders of magnitude larger.

I also find it amusing how one person disagreeing with you constitutes "flamers spamming", let alone warrants an address to the entire community..... :/

You can play this game alone. You can start a new character now and still succeed. This doe snot mean you will be on equal terms to those who started day one but it is perfectly playable.

Every now and then I make an alt to just go out, explore, and have fun. You know what there are clay nodes int eh 50s and 60s unclaimed. Trees above 100 free to take seeds from, mines already with nodes started but barely touched. Stone mansions to give you a leg up. The world is a lot more new player friendly with the abandoned places about than it was with a couple of thousand trying to compete.

As for lag and improvements I think most everyone wants those. However for a game that is a hobby and not a commercial project don't expect a pace beyond what the developers have time for. There are a couple of things they could do to help but long term solutions are not in sight.

In the mean time its a rather good free game enjoy it. :D

That's pretty much all that was needed to be said. Do your research before you make criticisms.

okay let me get one thing straight, people who just post 'You're dumb' can just stop posting on this thread, secondly, I LOVE haven and hearth and have put many hours into it in the past.

I said H+H isn't TOO popular, I didn't say it wasn't popular.

I prefer the game to be quite empty anyways, because I consider the community of the game to not be great, I would love to join someone's pre-starting village, build with them, chat with them on teamspeak/skype etc. and just have fun, but when the game had more players, that wasn't possible, now with less people, there is less chance of bali-bashing d-bags, but less chance of finding a good colony to start with, please try to post 'constructive criticism' on this thread.

You're VERY FUCKING dumb. Don't jump young buck, no one here is impressed with you NOR is anyone interested in your appraisal of the situation when we've sat here for 6 months waiting for the return of the game we love. In short? Shut your fucking pie hole and wait for development to start.
