I agree with the gist of this. A few problems I have:
-> There isnt actually much of a "curve" with player development. Or there is, but it curves the wrong way. Instead of making fast increases at the beginning and tapering as you get higher, newbies are challenged by 1) a lack of ways to gain lp 2) very inefficient lp gain methods and 3) A daunting learning curve that makes even finding those few, inefficient lp gaining methods very difficult. On the other hand, characters with a few mil lp just wander out in the forest and smack a level X bear. Bang, 20K lp. Seriously, bear are worth waaaay too much. I dont care if they are 10x as strong as a boar or a deer, they shouldnt give 10x the lp. Maybe 3x. Then we would see an actual curve in the progress rates of higher-level chars.
->players progress too quickly, especially via STR. Give a newbie a couple chests of BBB and some cheese and he can suddenly rip down walls with his bear hands. Those super-high FEP foods need to go, especially the STR ones, but actually all of them. Again, the system is created so that those who have access to the highest levels of production can actually increase their high stats faster than relative newbies. We need to put a curve in here, and things like BBB and Jorbanzala break it. Well, not so much Jorbanzala, but if Int were more useful, it would be breaking it. Also, drop strength and hp gain speed. make str go up 1 dam per 6-10 str, and hp go up by 1hp/2 con. Add some other effect to con, like a slow but natural endurance recovery. Spreads like:
Relative newb with 20 str and 20 con deals 4 damage and has 20 hp
A strong guy with 100 of each dealing 20 damage and has 60 hp
Would a much more human scale than what we have in place now. (btw, for hp I assumed a base 10, like stats, and then added 1/2 con.)
Obviously, both of these screw current godly characters, but as someone who joined in May and who has not yet died, I can say that I am not posting this out of envy of stronger characters. My char can kill multiple level X bears by punching them, which I think...is a bit silly. Level X bears should need a team of hunters working together to take down, IMHP.
Edit -- very minor grammar/formatting fix. Damn you, SV agreement.
/end wall of text. Hope it wasnt too bad.

Dogs! Oh god, please give us DOGS!
There are those who press on with the ardor of beer, and those who are faint with thirst.
