Practical use for authority: deletion

Postby theTrav » Sat Nov 07, 2009 12:00 am

Allow chieftans and lawspeakers to delete objects (like what you guys do in the admin tool) that are on village authority by spending available authority.
Make the authority cost based on the difficulty of destroying manually but instant.

This would allow TCoB to fairly quickly sort out wall in griefs and keep the RoB a bit cleaner.

Because it's limited to village authority it doesn't seem to abuseable

it might be abusable, if the village banner was build near some area, and then the instant deletion was used...

That sounds pretty fantastic. The only thing I'd say is that this should probably work a little like a very fast form of dismantling. Presumably it would also allow even the weakest of mayors to tear down brick walls with swiftness.

To go with this, maybe there should be a "Public Service" ability for the general rabble that allows them to repair stationary, town-owned objects more easily as well. Maybe no LP gain and 1/10th the resource demand?
Surprise.

If your claim isn't on village grounds, everything you built can be deleted with zero effort, other than building an idol (which isn't hard at all). I don't think players should be forced to live in villages. Sure, it's vulnerable as it is, but right now it at least requires effort to destroy stuff. That, and I don't like the idea of magically removing stuff in an instant. Might as well ask for instantaneous construction (materials magically teleport to construction site).

uh, you're forgetting that lighting a village idol requires 5 people, and that the suggested deletion would eat up authority (and I wouldn't think it would be a light price either)

I agree with Potjeh that we need materials that magically teleport to the construction site. Because, come on, working is hard.

I managed to grind up four yeomen and one lawspeaker in one day for the Novigrad project. It's not that hard.

Good point about authority cost, though.

Still, I think it would clash with the rest of the game stylistically.

Would it clash with instant teleportation? Swords made out of wind? Deer that instantly heal wounded animals?

Villages can already be used to harm people who don't have their own... If your claim gets under an evil vilages authority, they can remove your claim or just keep it there but they own all your stuff.
