Quick idea: Bandannas

Postby CG62 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 7:16 am

If you haven't read my "Torch posts not producing light" thread in the bugs forum, I'll go ahead and paraphrase myself:

Bandannas should be craftable using silk. You then can pour some sort of herbal extract onto them to stop the wearer from leaving scents for one hour (IRL) after the extract has been poured onto the bandanna. You must be wearing the bandanna for it's effects to work.

The herb required to produce the extract should be incredibly difficult to find, to stop potential abuse.

Don't get pissed if you think this is a bad idea. It's just a little musing I had whilst looking at the donation graphic.

So you get a bandanna on your main, bash down the wall that's claimed by the village, steal everything, murder a few people, and at the end of the day, no one can track you or do anything to cause retribution?

Yeah, great idea.

Silk is already bloody hard to produce.

And then whatever herb the devs would decide to use would probably be doubly hard to find.

Anyone willing to go through that much trouble to steal probably isn't the kind of person who would be afraid of retribution

Completely ridiculous idea. Let me say that again. Completely ridiculous idea. If there was any way at all to murder people without leaving a scent the game population would very quickly dwindle to less than a dozen.
I once dreamt of crafting beautiful thane's rings... then I discovered Big Bear Bangers. Now I smash beautiful things.

Alright, Rev. 2 of Bandanna theory:

1. 15 minutes, rather than an hour (Time goes up/down based on Ql. as well)
2. Bandanna is rendered useless if you commit any offensive actions (Destroy, combat actions, etc.)
3. There is a small chance you may leave a scent, but nothing summonable.

Yes, you don't have to use it for theft. You could just skip the herbal extract part and wear it as is.
