Some tree ideas

I believe if you chop down a tree and it's log falls on a structure, that structure should break or get damaged. If you chop a tree and the log falls on another tree, the log should land next to the tree. If you chop a tree and it lands on a cliff, the logs should roll to the bottom of the cliff onto the nearest open tiles. If you chop a tree and it lands on somebody, instant K.O. Last, directional chopping. Right click tree > Chop > North, East, South, or West

Also, please make trees continuously try to grow. It's a pain when they just stop because they get blocked and can't advance to the next stage.

About the damaging and shit, NO. but about the rolling to right etc, Sure, Really do you think it would not be griefable to plant 40 trees and smash his whole fort with trees?

Yes. If he's not online enough to notice and/or chop the trees(given that directional chopping is implemented) away from his fort, too bad. Certain items wouldn't be effected by trees though. Brick walls definitely wouldn't be damaged by a tree, nor would an anvil or a good high quality brick oven. Besides, it wouldn't be a one hit kill. It'd just remove a percentage of the hitpoints from the item it hits.

A palisades shouldn't be damaged by falling trees, either. Too thick.

I really can't understand why we don't have directional chopping yet.

Because it would be trivial to add, of course. :)

You don't even need to add rotated log graphics, just use the current rotation and place them according to the chopping direction. If you think that's unrealistic, explain how trees fall into separated and debranched logs.

It'd be a lot easier than extending fenceposts in each of the four directions, wouldn't it? >_>

We only need the 4 cardinal directions. And for that we only need the log grapchic to be rotated by 90 degrees.
And the tree could fall approximately in the opposite direction, of where you stand.
It IS trivial :)
