Poppy Flower drop on ground instead inventory

Postby warrri » Thu Dec 17, 2009 2:10 pm

Can you make poppy flowers drop on the ground when harvesting, like straw and fibres? Flowers have little use atm, and it's annoying when you just want to raise your seed q or bake robs to drop all of them after every 2 tiles :/

I agree, fibre and straw appears on the ground, so why not poppy flowers and tea leaves?

Just let them fill your inventory at first and keep harvesting without throwing them out,
the next batch will then stick to your hand and all will drop to the ground with one click,
and when your done harvesting just throw the ones that filled your inventory.
Thats how i do it anyway. ;)

Yeah, poppies are one of the rare crops where seed bags are actually useful. Fill your inventory with them and you don't have to worry about flowers.

But yeah, poppies should definitely give one flower each. Dunno about dropping to ground, IMHO all crops should go in inventory. Picking up fibre is annoying. As for straw, it should automatically form bales if you have string in inventory, so it doesn't take up too much space.

that's all well and good i suppose but you'd need to use seedbags and it's still an excessive amount of flowers.

And then you have to pick the all the seeds up which is even harder than dropping flowers every tile?

I have thought about Potjeh's idea method too, but if you want to cook the seeds you have to put them out of the seedbag, put the seedbag back to the shelter etc. Thats also more clicks than just dropping all the flowers.

I'd agree with 1 Flower per tile, at least until there is another use for them which requires huge amounts of them.

All i can think of is opium. Although I'll admit that as soon as JnL make it I'll replace all my fields with poppies ;)

Yeah, but if you're growing opium, you definitely don't want the flowers actually blooming. Or so I've heard.

RIght, you have to catch the pod about a week before it blooms and make light scrapes/punctures into the outside of the pod wall without puncturing/cutting all the way through. It will bleed a resin and you come back and scrape it up later that day when it dries. That is raw opium. This is done several times before the pod begins to die then it is clipped dried and extracted for 'coooked' or 'flake' opium, which is able to be refined into morphine, thebaine or codeine all of which can be used to synthesize the well known pharmaceuticals such as Heroin (Diacetyl Morphine), Fentanyl (& analogues from thebaine), Hydrocodone/Oxycodone (from codiene) & etc.

Of course, that's all highly illegal in most countries without a pharmaceutical license. So I get all my information from the internetz of course!
