tracking system

Postby kratier » Thu Jan 21, 2010 4:54 pm

so i died 500 miles away from where i went to sleep and logged out

all because someone saw my "theft scent" and was able to summon me 500 miles away from my bed? what kind of stupid ass backwards system in this?

It seems to me like it was just a "bandaid" to some kind of tracking system concept that would take a long time to code. Simply put, you should be able to track players the same way you track down wells , a radar and circle showing distance/direction. Not by summoning a person through their "scent", that concept is just plain retarded.

you died at your hearth fire, which some one tracked from the scent you left at the crime scene, using a radar circle showing distance/direction.

Hmm...that is the way it works, unless you dont have a hearth fire. Did you not have a hearth fire? Failing to build one leaves you summonable at the RoB. That might suck, but trust me, the alternative was much, much worse.

that's not the way i heard from the person who actually killed me, they summoned me through my scent, not from my hearth fire

they were located in the circle area near it, i had my hearth fire very far away next my house, i dont think they took a boat and found me in under 5 minutes. because thats how long i was logged out.

Thats not possible. You need a scent and a Hfire to summon, unless the perp has no Hfire.

When you leave a thief scent you can track the hearth , stolen item or your guys location when your online...
And they can use it to summon it. You cant be summoned with assault and trespass scents but you can with other ones.

IF you have no hearth you can be spawned at rob or at your char stone

i can read you dumbass mother fucker , he did not state he summoned me by my hearth in chat he said he summoned me through scent, he also said there was a skeleton there, there were no skeletons near my hearth fire.

either i somehow did not "bind" to my hearth properly or it did not register and thats how he summoned through my scent. Don't try to act like through your bullshit i am wrong about this, i read the same fucking chat lines you did. and last i checked you get thief scent even if you look inside a container

the principle of this thread is to state that summoning someone through their scent is fucking retarded, and there should be a legit tracking system to find people, rather than summoning someone through their scent, that's just a plain retard concept and shit like that is what makes this game look worse and worse.

Damn, you sound like Chak. Except less correct.

What both I and darki are trying to tell you is that, regardless of what you read on the chat, what you are saying is not possible. I have tracked, summoned, and killed about a dozen chars, and I promise you I could not do it via scent. You have to take the scent to the hfire, or use it to track to the character if they are online. Or other places, if they dont have an Hfire.

I have no idea what you read in a chat, but you cannot simply pick up a scent and summon the perp. It doesnt work that way.
