Fir Bough and Elm Bough

Postby Xilliah » Fri Mar 12, 2010 6:01 am

Hello,

Just started playing.

In the last days I've played Mass Effect 2, Supreme Commander 2, Fallen Earth, Dark Age of Camelot, A Tale in the Desert, and some other games. And now this game. I can tell you that this game is the most fun of all. I hope it stays fun for a long time, and am looking forward to cities, fortresses, boats, chainmail etc.

As a newbie, I'd just like to ask: why can't I use elm bough for my leanto? Fir bough is really far away from where I live, but there's plenty of elm bough.

And as a secondary question: How do I forage? I can't see any mushrooms etc, and I don't have an action for it either.

Thanks so much!

The elm bough thing is an oversight, or indeed may be intentional. In real life, it's definitely better to use conifer branches for our shelter roof.
Foraging requires that you buy the skill, then spend a lot of points in the "Exploration" stat on the front page of the character panel, and increase Perception.

Welcome to the game!

P.S.: Look up the Wiki and search the forum carefully before asking questions, as they have probably been answered before.
Surprise.

We need more confusing tree items : what's with leaves existing only on mulberry trees ?

I think it was nice to find the right trees and then to transport all the stuff. It made the home worth so much more to us.

It would be nice if you could make a simple Leanto with any kind of bough, but to make a good house you need it from a special tree.

Well, the reason is simply that I didn't want to add a generic "bough" recipe input before Jorb had drawn a generic bough picture for it, but oh well. I'll use the fir bough in the meantime.
