Dig water trenches

Postby Onionfighter » Tue Mar 30, 2010 12:20 pm

Add the landscaping ability to dig shallow water trenches. These would function just like shallow water, but can be re-filled with dirt.

Mechanic: make these dig-able anywhere adjacent to water. Only artificial water can be filled.

Possible functions: boat access, mess up people's roads, fishing ponds, easy water access.

Recommend moving closer to a water source 8-)

You dont get it, also, shut up and leave this game like you would. Im getting really sick of your brainless trolling.

As for the OP, messing up road, meh, but other then that...Easier docking with boats without a dock or something, easy water access. But how fishing ponds? Fish in shallow water, or could you make shallow water deep water as well?

Oddly enough, in all the threads I've contributed (helpful) ideas to, the only things you've suggested have been to make the game easier for yourself ;) I wonder why that is? Funnily enough, not many people seem to like your ideas either.

Why distinction between 'artificial water' only being fill able? Not only would this get confusing if their is no visual difference between the two I don't see the huge harm in filling in the shallows that exist so long as deep-water cant be altered.

Good luck launching a boat if there's no shallow water. I have pure deep water in my cave, it's totally worthless for anything; decoration only

However, the entire idea is just to make the game easier by letting you essentially move water by creating miniature canals to transport it in. Next you'll want to make a conveyer belt to automatically bring you fir boughs from miles away. If a river, fish, etc. is that important to you, live by the river.

That would not fit the game setting.

Nor does digging water trenches really. Anyway, the main result will be someone seeing a trench as they pass along the river, blocking it off by filling a section in with dirt, and following it up to your settlement where they'll steal your stuff / kill your sons / rape your daughters, etc.

I wouldn't use it to make a channel to my settlement. Connecting rivers out in the wilderness is more like it. That way I wouldn't have to get out of boat and carry it every time I want to switch rivers.

Mind you, this would allow you to get clay and water from their highest q tile, which is almost always inaccessible in the current system. I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing.
