Fountains would need pumps.

Water pumps would be a great skill to add to Basic Mechanics.

I'd love to see this with or without water pumps though.

Fountains don't need pumps.

Also, besides being aesthetic, they should take less time than wells.

Yeah, I was thinking like artesian (sp?) stuff, though I don't know if that would actually produce a fountain per se.

And yeah, a fountain would be a cool upgrade to a well, though I'm a little leery of making it too awesome / easy to come by because every joe farmer having one would just look off.

I'm guessing that the OP is talking about the "vomiting statue" style fountain and you guys are thinking about water pump style fountains. The benefit of a fountain over a well would be that fountains works faster and can be built anywhere.

They should probably have some effect as well, just because its aesthetic doesn't mean it can't be usefull as well.
