creating a fog of war around a village

Postby Hizeru » Fri May 28, 2010 3:49 am

I was thinking it might be nice to create a power or ability that could be used to create a fog of war around a location or village. basically a way to hide your village on the little map, or even maybe protecting you from a certain range or characters with low perception. it would be a nice mid way solution for the people who don't like the inability to defend villages.

It would easily fit after the fire and ice ability.

Sounds like some pretty stong magic. I don't think even Harry Potter has a magic cape THAT big.

Perhaps you should search for threads, you'd find a similar one posted not too long ago:

I don't like the idea. Cartography is fairly useless and needs boosting rather than detracting.

I very much dislike the idea of invisible buildings... It don't make no sense.

Stealth of individual characters is another matter for another thread

its just more of an idea to have a place you can hide a home from people just skimming along looking to steal by looking at there mini map.

Not realistic and sounds like a not-so-great way to hide a village. You can't just 'hide' a village in real life. You could put it somewhere deep inland with many trees so you can't see it and such (you can do this via having your house in a jungle) but you don't really just 'hide' villages. People still see them, eh.

Hiding what people can see inside though...

That's why the 'fog wall' is a good idea.

I don't think magic is trying to take such a role, but I could be wrong...

Remember it's an MMO and any 'ooh fancy hard to do' idea, will no matter what, be done en masse if it's worth it, no matter what limits you put on it, people will find a way around and it will be easy to do.
