Clay/Soil Amounts and Shovel Quality

Re: Quality of shovels mattering

You've said it yourself: the two suggestions are mutually exclusive. If the quality of a tool affects something, you do not want it to decrease, period. It's an either/if situation. The overlap is in the thread subject: quality of shovels (And other tools) mattering: you're suggesting it should matter in one way, I'm suggesting another way.

Now, I don't want this to devolve into just us two arguing and calling each other idiots. Let's wait for some more replies: if there is interest, I'll move my own suggestion into a separate thread. Deal?

Just move it now, since you somehow think the thread title is what makes the difference, I'm changing it.

Read the sticky as well, one idea, one thread. You're not improving on my thread or critiqueing it, you're providing your own that has nothing to do with this one.

I think they're both great ideas.

It's not the best idea, but i don't see why it shouldn't happen, I keep wondering, why the hell do these things have quality, well why not actually put it to some use, what's the point of knowing the 'quality' of a shovel if it doesn't do shit, considering it's a tool it's not like "Oh hey the quality is how shiny it is!", any other idea to make quality matter even in a small way is much worse.

If you harvest with a high q scythe, you should get more produce per tile of crop.

See anything wrong with that?

Crops need to be redone completely(hence me not mentioning them) and scythe quality should eventually matter for something but not really do that. Pickaxes should actually matter for something too...

Otherwise just remove quality showing on the tag, what's the point? You got people running around "I wanna buy a q50+ scythe, or q70+ pickaxe" I've seen it happen tons of times, or they ask to buy one and when I come with one I made on my 1 smithing farmer they expected a lot better, it's ridiculous and having Quality on the items can confuse people, is this in the wiki? Yes. Does anyone believe the wiki since it's usually discredited every 5minutes? No.

The worst part is you have to either deal with them asking in IRC and no one answering, or them not believing you and leaving, I've had this happen 4 times already, it's a real pain in the ass. Not the only reason why I want this though.
