Heheh. Don't think the germanic and other cultures had Ayahuasca, though.
Otherwise, I like the idea, but I doubt it would happen since they dont seem to be too fond of any magic unless its necessary .
I do think it's far too complicated though- it's not really hard to comprehend, but just unnecessary. If it was slightly simpler it would be better

Oh wow, an executive summary. Yes, spirit magic sounds cool. I like the idea of having multiple magic systems in the game such as spirit magic, rune magic and alchemy. I'd especially like it if they interfered with each other like that steampunk RPG anasomethingorother

If you can curse, might there be a way to "bless" (or something like that) in your grand vision too, Potjeh?

Good spirits making a smelter luckier? Helping with stamina regen? Because I think I like that idea even more.

Otherwise this is just one more black/pvp add-on ... teats on a bull, to the honest majority.

I'm not so keen on binding spirits for "good", as it seems a bit contradictory. Bribing them could work, though. But I think the best way to get positive effects should be keeping your hearth spirit really pleased (in case I missed these in the summary, check the wall of text to see what they are).

I know Jorb is a big fan of Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, which he considers a major influence. I think we can expect protective forest spirits in some form in the future.

I came with an idea for protecting nature, which ties in with spirits nicely: instead of demanding items, guardian spirits would give you quests. And most of these quests would boil down to killing people that have angered that particular spirit. So, destroying forests would result in getting a sort of a bounty on your head. For doing these quests for the spirit, it would reward you with various things, such as sending wild animals to your aid when your attacked within the spirit's forest, or making you harder to track if you and your hearth are in the forest.

I just thought I'd add to this thread that I am not entirely unconvinced. It's probably not going to be like Potjeh described, but there are several ideas that I'd like to use as inspiration, and it ties in very nicely with some previous ideas that we've had. I've tried to get Jorb to read the opening post, but he's just all TL;DR. ;)

Heh, I know that I can get a bit too talky now and then. I don't really expect any of this to be implemented exactly as I suggested, but I figure that the more details I provide, the more inspiration you can derive from it. Anyway, nice to hear that this has been useful.
