Or you know, not have a stupid forum for flaming and keep the forum as a whole more mature? If you want 4chan you go to 4chan.

I don't think the devs will go for that. They like free speech, and so having an unmoderated anything-goes sort of board would be a good compromise.

If people would ACT more mature, this wouldn't be a problem in the first place. Image
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Yeah, we could call it Elitist Jerks, and have people in the EJ forum occasionally recruit from the forum where all the sillies hang out doing their silly stuff...

I'm all in favor of having the forums moderated but I doubt J&L will go for it. I'm against starting up a separate forum because J&L probably won't read it.

Delamore is into flogging dead horses.

[Edit - I figure this thread might as well provide what it suggests.]

Doesn't need that. It does need to be moderated though, but they seem bent on letting it be 100 percent free kind of like the game. It would work fine if it was just the elite player, or just the new players/goons, but it's not and will never work free. I probably wouldn't have flamed and all that if it was moderated, but if the other people aren't going to stay within the bounds of reason why should I? Also, it will probably just spill over into the other forums, and also coddle people who enjoy that type of thing in the first place.

That's a pretty primary school lesson there... The whole two wrongs doesn't make a right thing?
I know it's hard to stop yourself getting drawn in, hell I get into the flaming plenty of the time and every single time I know I shouldn't do it.
Why not? Because I want to be better than the scum, I want to be a good person. Don't you?

I think you're taking it a bit too seriously.

Ontopic: I still support a flame board. I've seen other forums add them, and they work well. They keep the riffraff in one place, and any that spills over gets promptly deleted/moved by the mods. I'm actually pretty sure somethingawful has a board for spamming/raging, doesn't it? IGN does too to an extent.

You want mod's to clean up the board, but you don't want people to clean themselves up? How is the former less serious than the latter?

This thread is quickly becoming a testament to the need for a flame board.

STFU & GTFO if you can't stay on topic.

Possible counterpoint to needing one: You can ignore people who frequently troll you. I myself have already ignored numerous people on the forums simply because I know I can fall victim to a troll.
