Good thing you didn't vote with all 6 of them, you could have carried the vote

I think it's all been said already ;-) There's a major correlation between character age and desire for character wipe. This makes the "vote" rather silly.

Correlation is not causation. There could be another factor, the older players tending to have come from furry sites, for example.

Why does it make the vote silly? First of all, it's not official. Second of all, are you saying that everyone elses answers arent valid because they are newer? I would say the opposite: the people are newer so they are relatively unaffected by character reset and see that it's a useful and necessary thing, while the people against it don't care about it being practical, they just want to keep their precious characters

Erm, don't mind my asking, but why is it useful/practical/necessary?

The character reset is necessary because of the functionally broken character development system. Until that is resolved, a character reset would not accomplish much, and would only be setting up for another one when the aforementioned issue is resolved (if it ever is.)

On the other hand, starting out completely fresh on the new map would be ideal. It's difficult to judge the impact that the new environment has on the game world when people are flooding it with old-world items loaded onto throwaway alts.

Erm, don't mind my asking, but why is it useful/practical/necessary?

1. Because it's needed to get a grasp on how the new revamped map and mechanics would work
2. Because it would wipe out all the grossly over or underpowered things that happened due to exploits and mechanic changes
3. Because it would be a bad idea to start out a new world if it wasn't on a relatively even plain

Why does everyone have to be a newbie to get a grasp of the impact the new map will have? In the final release, newbies won't be entering the world with no highbies in it - quite the opposite. It's not like we are going to stop getting newbies once we switch worlds - having the high level players present in the world when they arrive is more on par with what the game will be like a month or so after release.
To get a good look at what the game will be like a month from release or so, it's good to have the highbies around to see what effect they too have on the world and the newbies.

Also, the devs said they would not take away or repay anything lost or gained due to crashes/bugs/exploits. Which I am grateful for : )

@Tempest: Vague words : P Could you please be more specific? "functionally broken character development system" ?
i guess they never miss huh
