Slow down Sally...

First off, where did you pull "bronze age" from? This game is obviously not set in the bronze age because it contains many advancements that came much later than the "bronze age" such as steel, which is not a difficult one to deduce. Secondly, there were also water clocks which are just as old as sundials. Thirdly, and probably the most dating of these, is the fact that we have a meat grinder. Meat grinders were not invented until the 1800s AD, a couple thousand years after the bronze age and even the earliest traces of steel. Large mechanical clocks came about around the 13th century AD, and were refined to what we know today (small clocks and watches that depict hours minutes and seconds) in the 15th century AD.

So no. I didn't know. And I didn't know because that (your quote above), sir, is false.

We could have a clock tower without disrupting the laws of time. Of course, I wouldn't be opposed to sabinati's idea of adding the date to the thing at the top, if the devs decide to make an addition.

The game doesn't have months AFAIK. If we were to have them, I think 28 day months would be the best, so you can easily tell the phase of the moon by the day of the month.

Why make it a game mechanic? Just add :time to the console and have it say the current server time and how long the server has been running and when the last crash/reset was. Sundials, water clocks, etc can come in later for decoration eventually.

no, potjeh was right, the game doesn't have months currently. kaka made a screenlet that had some math involving 30 day months i n the code

It tells time of day, but not date. I'd very much like to know the exact in-game date, would make scheduling steel, silk and fishing a lot easier.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

I guess having a console option like Darkavatar mentioned would work as well.

I like this idea the most, if we're not gonna get actual clocks.

The console option doesnt do it: If it crashes twice a day and you arent there in between, you still dont know how long it will take for your silk/steel /whatever

I think you can. The only thing that you need to know is the Game-time diff to Real-time at the moment you started a process. (and of course the (general expected) Game duration time for that process. (planted tree or crop for example.))

It would probably be not to hard* (easy for provisioned coders) to create a little HnH (external) clock tool that would keep track of the game time ... and started processes. (I'm thinking beyond just a HnH time displayer.)
