the moment you add haircuts or barbers, custom appearances go from enjoyable character expression to an irritating pain in the ass. think about it, you are seriously requesting decay ticks for your head

We can rename it Barber and Hair, the Slavic Survival Hair-cutting MMO!

Better to simply allow players some control over their appearance through Beliefs - I always believed those could use more fleshing out anyhow.

So you naturally end up with these bearded forest hermits or cleancut, closecropped metalworkers or ragged, wildhaired barbarians

I'm with Jackard on this but I can still totally see scalping...and having to be bald for an amount of time. Jackard's def right though..shouldn't be an upkeep thing. The 'haircut' can be abstracted and the hairstyle an expression of belief. When you're scalped it just takes time to get back to where it was and you run around bald or with short hair for a week or two.

Hair idea

Postby Annoyance » Sun Oct 10, 2010 5:32 pm

With the recent hair change, I figured there could be an easier way to do hair than have Loftar every once in a while offer to change hundreds of characters.

Why not have hair grow somewhat like crops? perhaps at intervals of three days for normal on-the-top hair, and two days for beards?

Bald -(three days)-> Loftar Hair -(three days)-> default starter "Emo" hair -(three days)-> Jorb Hair

Fully Shaved -(two days)-> Moustache -(two days)-> Goatee + Moustache -(two days)-> Full Beard (the current one that exists)

To cut ones hair or shave, all one would need is a stone axe. Like the first aid skill with gauze, they would left click the axe in their inventory, then right click onto their character (cannot cut other people's hair since some might be pissed off). From then, two options would appear: "Cut Hair" and "Trim Beard".

If your character has Jorb + Full Beard, using the "Cut Hair" option would reduce your hair to "Emo" hair, and the "Trim Beard" option would reduce the beard to "Goatee + Moustache.

(Each "Cut" or "Trim" reduces your hair or beard 'level' (if you will) by one)

From Jorb to Bald it would take three cuts.
Additonally from Full Beard to Fully Shaved would also take three trims.

What do you all think?

edit: eh probably would've helped for me to use search function and find this I guess, only looked back two or so pages

players obviously need to be able to learn the barber skill and be able to cut other people's hair if they stand still long enough (consensual) or if they are ko'd (non consensual)

We should also be able to draw penis's on a KO'd person.
