I can say that the changes will be substantial. The reason it is taking so long, is that the devs want them to be the right changes.

Most of the suggestions I read either add items or features to aspects of the game that are underused or undervalued, or to offset some criticism about the game.

For example my second thread on this board was about stone working, I could've just made a complaint about the bad menu design wasting an extra click just to get the 2 stone working objects. Along with that, a complaint about not being able to do anything with our hearthling's bodies except for sprawling them outside to write notes in the grass. Then why isn't there a way to have some outdoor storage that isn't a huge expensive wagon? Three potential complaints about the game addressed by suggesting additional items or structures.

I guess my point is, that although many (if not most) threads in C&I are just "lets add XYZ", if you look between the lines, they may be subtle criticisms about the game's design.

And regarding the critique of other's ideas, are you reading this board at all? Almost every thread has people who disagree or those who provide criticisms about such threads.

The OP has a point though. While I am not sure why he doesn't want us to come up with solutions alongside critiqueing, there really isn't alot critiqueing in the first place. I mentioned this on several occasions before, but I think it is much more useful to the devs to point out flaws in current game mechanics than to come up with unique stuff (most of the times people are talking about recipes and buildings). For example don't make a thread on a sturdy leather armor, the devs will come up with their own version of it anyway. For them to see that we are lacking variety in armor it would be much easier to just say so and let them design the specific armor, than to open tons of threads on different armor suggestions. They will get it when the 5th or 6th thread pops up suggesting some variety of sturdy leather armor and they will implement cutthroat's cuirass. You still haven't gotten your sturdy leather armor and probably never will, but you might have gotten that cuirass earlier on if you just made a thread about the lack of armor variety.

...is a critique?

Also I might add that ideas are best fit for C&I. Critiques require a comprehensive understanding of game design theories and a comprehensive understanding of the game as it is now, was, and intends to go. This is conducted between veteran players outside the public eye but all the good stuff is fed directly to J&L without nubllution.

Armor - Something to compete with Vapntreyiu's slot as 'under armor'
Weapons - Something else perhaps? We have a single axe and three swords.
Bows - 'Rebalancing', they're slow as hell. - My stance may shift depending on how much Ironworking update changes quality raising.
Natural Resources - Consider some rebalancing?
Shield - A second shield please? Even if it does nothing as the current one does I'm sure many of us would like a metal one or something.
Bonuses - More equipment that adds stat/skill value boosts, Carpentry could definitely use one, so could Marksmanship.

Let's make wool completely pointless!
As for weapons, we could really use a decent non-metallic melee weapon. The Cutthroat Cuirass gave metal-less players a pretty good piece of armor, but they still need a sword or B12. Fighting with a stone axe isn't viable.

Guys you're doing it wrong! You're supposed to be saying "The current weapon/armor selection leaves something to be desired" and nothing else instead of actually posting relevant suggestions to solve the problem!

See how much better critiquing is compared to ideas?!?

Ideas help but as burg posted don't get all technical you're wasting your energy and that of everyone who reads it, how often do you see specific ideas implemented? Never, pfft.

Saying that we need non-metallic armor/weapons though is a valid point, we have Cutthroat Cuirass as non-metal armor which is pretty cool, but we don't have any non-metal weapons besides stone axe which is pitiful because axes lean more towards strength and stone axe is super weak.

Vapntreyiu alternative could use wool, could use anything, but having just one choice for the slot is pretty gay.

Also, more uses for wool would be cool.

I am not really sure why you felt the need to post those different examples dog, because now the thread is turning into a discussion about equipment. Please keep it on track guys.
