I think they should be two, because branches are one inventory space. Bundling them should make it take more space.

ok lets say you have 5 branches and some string, you make a bundle, it takes up 2 slots. that part i'm fine with. i just don't think that 5 sticks (an easily obtainable, unlimited resource) and a string (another easily obtainable resource that is not very limited) should yield the same amount of charcoal as a block of wood (a somewhat more difficult to obtain resource, that while renewable, is also somewhat difficult to renew)

I agree with the above post.

This is still a way to make charcoal, without deforestation.

However, since charcoal is so valuable (you can't make metal without it), the easy option should also be less efficient.

You get less charcoal this way, but preserve resources, it's give and take.

I disagree with allowing charcoal without deforestation. The whole industry vs nature contention would disappear and there's room for a lot of color around that struggle.

I also think that unlimited branches from a single tree is pretty unrealistic as well, however I can see how tracking things like that on each object could become quite an overhead.

How about this: there's only a 50% chance that each fattie (That's what we call them around my place) produces a lump of coal?
Surprise.

Jorb and Loftar will no doubt work out such specifics themselves, but hopefully they don't implement anything like this until they've worked out a way to stop players from getting infinite branches off a single mulberry tree in the center of their metropolis.

Actually, I have another idea altogether. But I'm not telling yet. :)
