last i checked you can make one from any dried hide, did they change it?

hmm. I guess you still can. sorry. Still, there should be some meaningful reason to get a waterskin, and right now there is not.

the meaningful reason to get one is that you don't have leather or don't want to spend precious early game leather on a drink container

Maybe i miss something here, but getting any dried hide in the early game is considerable more difficult that getting one piece of leather (unless game encourages you to sling poke a herd of animals rather than catch a bunny that is). While in the mid-game, when that stuff isn't that rare anyways, dried hide + 8 irl hours = 2 waterflasks AND a leather boots. So the point is those 8 hours that require almost nothing from the player? Srsly.

Just saying, i haven't used waterskin since world 2 where i made it to check it out. So if i'm not missing something general that item do need a buff to become useable.

i think what you are missing is that leather and waterskins have the same ingredient: a dried hide. if you had read the thread you might have noticed that dried rabbit hides are acceptable input.

p.s. not every item needs to be useful through to the endgame

The Cow Hide should be changed to Any Hide, or at least put up a Rabbit Hide to attract the newcommers, it's really confusing if you don't know what you're doing.

In fact i did missed that. Well if i'm able to craft a waterskin from a dried rabbit hide today then your point is valid.

yes it is a known "display bug" that's been around since i started. for example, the hide cloak can also be made with a rabbit hide. it apparently is not enough of a priority for them to fix, much like the units of liquids showing L instead of dL in crafting recipes.
