Why not just play a sound to everyone within the village claim whenever someone rings the bell?

Then us who plays without sound wouldn't be able to hear it..

nice, a doorbell could be very usefull, especially for large villages.
I would also show a message on the banners and statues, since people can be anywhere in a village, but not at the idol when the bell rings.

ringing doorbell gives everyone in village claim the system message "-name- rings"
