It still involves a button press, and a space on my hotbar.

Not that it's such a huge waste of hotbar space, but it would be a rather neat "finishing touch" style addition. Not exceptionally necessary, but a would be nice type thing.

On a slightly similar, but generally unrelated note, I've always had this idea.

How about a "pocket" or "belt clip" inventory slot that's either 1 or 2 slots and it spaced off to the side of your regular inventory for single items that you want to take along with you but don't want cluttering up your regular inventory space. Obviously it would only appear when you're wearing certain clothing items. (Some pants would allow for a pocket, or perhaps a belt clip in order to actually make a belt worthwhile).

Basically I just like the way certain things fit neatly into a regular backpack inventory (6 boards, 12 logs, etc.) but also want to have certain things with me like a flask or a sling or something. It's not really needed but I'm neat and organized and I like the idea of "carrying" a few main items with you, along with your regular inventory.

Also, these items would be "locked" into your inventory too, so you could still seed sort or do other cupboard dumping activities without having to keep fish them out.
