Houses are what, 5x5 with a 4x4 interior?

Bringing that interior space up to 5x5 to match space taken up with space offered wouldn't be an egregious abuse of realism, even though it doesn't factor walls in the interior, and frankly the small size of the space inside of the building does bug me.

If the framework of space taken up = space provided inside were followed I'd have no problem and view that as a fair system.

While I don't mind scale inconsistencies in games when it is obviously very difficult to avoid, with H&H we have a realistic, consistent system that works. I don't think that needs to change- if we get spacier houses, make them bigger outside as well.

As a corollary, mines are currently non Euclidean, unlike houses. Are you willing to touch that anytime soon?

Also you guys against it are thinking it's going to be like 4x4 on the outside 20x20 on the inside.

I doubt it would be anything like that. 5x5 for 5x5, that's "unrealistically" fair.

5x5 interior sounds pretty good to me.

5x5 for 5x5 would be the limit for me. 20x20 outside and 21x21 inside would still be annoying.

The log cabins are actually 4x4 on the outside and 4x4 on the inside.

I for one would like a specialized skill, such as architechture that lets you build onto house, or make them bigger from the start.

oooo
o o
oooo
0-walls

That could be expanded like so

oooooo
o o
o o
oooooo

to that. Ofcourse it would be much more expenisive, but it could also be implemented that A house has to be a certain size before certain features can be added to it.

EDIT: I can't fix the second house's wall D:
So a 4x4 house is just 1 story with a cellar.
A 5x5 house could have a second story
a 6x6 house could have that, and the cellar would be bigger.
a 7x7 house would have a placable wall inside, with a door for security.
Etc.

Edit: I can't fix the second house's wall....

I think we'd all prefer freeform building. Sadly, it's not really doable at the moment.

personally i think space-requirements inside houses are kinda moot at the moment.. as someone could just build a mine in a house, and have as much space as they want.. they could make mines in the mines ect..
