Nope, I suggest it because it should be something that requires cooperation of many people.
The bonuses I suggested (though they were some very raw examples, and definitely will require balancing and testing before the release) are not too high as you think.

kralmir wrote:once it's there is going to be there being to powerful. 10% higher metal q? seriously? are you crazy?

Some examples:

q100 chainmail shirt + 10% bonus = q110 chainmail shirt

Stats differences:
1502 hp vs 1575 hp
47 AC vs 49 AC

q50 soldiers sword + 10% bonus = q55 soldier's sword

Stats differences:
894 damage vs 938 damage

what's crazy about that? ;)

maybe have it require item sacrifices for upkeep. maybe only allow one to be active per village, for specialization of villages.

This combined with said items placing a cap on the increase (this works for the +% to quality) so if you only give it 10 quality items it can only increase things to 11 or 12 quality anything higher the statue becomes worthless.

sorry, not appetizing at all to me.
there are many more better things suggested to be added for village features, and this one is far from a priority.
this idea is only asking to make ql rase easier with some sacrifice which means almost nothing to most big villages.
10% easier quality raising and easier smelting? meh, sounds lame to me.
imo, we need something new to enjoy, not something to make the present activities less challenging.
having a decorative monument would be nice though.....

Then you could just build satellite villages and construct Monuments there.

Perhaps have the effect rely on the maximum authority that your village has?

Amen. I really wish that we could have thrones, pylons, etc. that require that your village has a certain authority level. Perhaps they could provide some sort of boosts (although not necessarily the kind that the OP suggested).

I don't like everything the OP suggested, but I do like the general direction that this is going. We need more ways to use our authority as well as more benefits for having a high authority level.

On this note ideas that wouldn't be OP would be ones such as:
Increased stamina regen
Increased HP regen
Hunger Modifiers (maybe?)
Increased Happiness (won't do anything until happiness is introduced)
Hunger drain
Travel Weariness drain (like sleeping in a bed does)
Increased Movement (this maybe a little overpowered)

None of these are too broken and give only slight advantages. All of them could drain more authority too.

I like this idea for some reason. I think it should be a huge monument where a village can only have 1 and the only way to get more is to raid or build more villages and this would really make the game interesting. Also make it so the LS can only activate it/take it?

ATTRITION TO YOUR FOES!!!

anyways, on a more serous note, its a nifty idea, maybe make it only run while your village has a certain amount of authority? A dead village would have alot of treasure within its walls, but no treasure within greater than that idol to the god of penises sitting there in that court yard.

thats better than the auth-idea, as the auth would be ignorable for bigger villages (who are more powerful anyway)
