I think a button that allows you to remove a character would be pretty helpful for those who have a bunch of extra characters for any reason.
For insurance that you won't misdelete your character, you should need to input your password again, or set another password for it.
I believe that this would save a lot of time so you don't have to find a creature to kill yourself with.

I'd love to be able to delete characters. I have a few that were 50 miles away from anything besides trees, and one in the middle of a jungle I can't see anything through.

Alternatively, you can also just strip and cover yourself in leeches. Nearly killed myself doing that once.
