Good idea, but it definitely should be limited to a parchment.

Well, true. Already thought about that. :)
But since theres no weight theres no way to differ between a steel bar and, lets say, a pearl or a key... so I thought it would be okay, keeping in mind, that one person is able to lift a boat with two chests full of said bars. :)

As for limiting it to parchment, well, even then its a good way for offline messaging..

PS Also some pigeon reciep could be added, since there were some IRL in past, but not necessary...

There is weight, loftar said so. It's just not used.


This would be a neat system if:
A)Setting off an animal you 'trained' is viable
B)You could shoot the pigeons and steal whatever they took
C1)There is a clear route pigeons fly, so if one is intercepted you know who to fuck up :lol:
or
C2)You only see the pigeons the first 100 tiles then they disappear and start 100 tiles before the other village ; Need to be shot down in that range

I'm somehow amusedly reminded of presents floating by in Animal Crossing lol.

Well, Loftar probably meant it to exist as a variable in a class. While under "not used" i'd understand completley not used i.e. its null. => objects have no weight.=)
Anyway, as far as its not used it may be counted not to exist.xD

When we'll get weight used in game, then maybe we'll be able to keep poor birds from carrying metal bars or bricks, but until then... maybe its easier to make a list of non-carryable 1x1 items?
Its gonna be pretty short: bar of anything, any brick, ore, stone, stoneaxe, armor pieces... well, pretty much, but it's less then carryable list anyway.
Or just let them do? Given Salem development, the easier it is to implement an idea - the more chances it'll be implemented in H&H.

As for shooting down - let them be intercepted like silkmoths and others. for the same purpose - ease of coding. its gonna be hard enough, if top quality ones(~300) travel on sprint speed.

as for C1 or C2 - both are good, but C2 is gonna make less server load. just imagine what would happen in case of C1 when someone is sending matireals for a brickwall to his fella on the other side of the map xD... A client-crashing train of 340 pigeons. XD... Poor interceptors....=)

i'd propose a C2+ variant - pigeons disappear at 100 tiles away from start, but only if no one is looking at it. it would be more honest to interceptors.

but anyway, none is able to feed 340 chickens, so none would feed hordes of pigeons to send such a train in one certain direction.

Feeding 340 chickens is easy if you aren't doing TOO much else yourself.

Chickens are so friggin' easy to maintain it's a joke, assuming pigeons would be similar, would be easy.

That variant seems to work fine, and yea it might possibly be a very big lag source, but I think it should be handleable in a way where it isn't, could always have it only do work on a map if it's actually loaded too.

The weight system is there in as far as everything has a weight, loftar explained it, and it's all there to be used, it's just not in use because the inventory system currently doesn't exactly work well with it. All the data there could be used for things such as pigeons, as it's already present, so there's no need to do the exclusion of certain items, just allow weight to be shown in tooltip, and have a cap on pigeon weight.
