man decay can be pretty irritating sometimes im glad it doesnt happen to roads like certain idiots suggested

Personally I think the devs should bump up the priority on fixing retardedly dangerous swimming. Almost made me quit the first time it happened.

On my first char I found myself thinking there was hardly any place I could travel, between the owned land and rivers. So I saw swimming and was like, "That's it! I can finally escape this damn trap of a starting area." My character probably made it 2 pixels into the dark blue river before dying.

Either your character needs to tell you, "Hey stupid, I'm not that good a swimmer yet" or you need some form of rated risk assessment (click across the river and you're prompted "33% chance of making it across. Continue? Yes/no."), or swimming needs to not be horribly lethal.
