Still would not make it an interesting mechanic. Sliders all belong into the trashcan.

agreed, unless of course they add changes that truely affect gameplay(impact on skills you can pick), with the obvious exceptions they're basicly useless...

I'm right in the middle on everything except peaceful change and industry, the exeptions.

Should also be full life, and if you have enough int to spare going full barb doesn't hurt.

lol full life means you do less damage fighting, not a good thing. plus I'm never at my mhp anyway...caveins love me leeches hate me

I know barb/civ is a trade off strength for int, but I find it easier to just boost the one I'm using and not have either penalized(in case I need more of the other later)

I'll let someone with more combat experience explain why everyone goes full life. I've read the explanation and agree with it. (Well, I can't come up with a reasonable counter argument.)

As far as barb/civ goes, early game players might not have enough gear or items for serious Int boosting. Later in the game, the number of items to boost Int are just rediculous. There's no reason to not go barbarism if you are going to change it either way.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Grievous damage = HHP damage

It's generally worthless to do HHP damage since if you manage to knock them out, that 20% more HHP they lost means nothing. 20% more MHP isn't something to laugh at when at high level gameplay and 1 sting can be the difference between you living and dieing.

In short:
HHP damage = worthless
More MHP = potentially lifesaving

I've only ever seen 1 person go full death, and it was pretty much just for the lulz. Pretty much everyone goes full life because you figure at the STR i had last world (500 or so), I did about 5 HHP damage per punch. 5! 40% of 5 rounded down is 2. So i can do 2 HHP damage more per punch if i go full death. That is a pathetic trade off for the amount of bonus HHP you get from full life.

More on topic though, the only slider bonus i actually like is the industry/nature one, because it's a choice (depending on what job you want to do), not a no brainer. The rest of them are pretty much start off at one side of the slider and go to the other as we get later in the world (change -> trad, Civ -> barb, peaceful -> martial). So they either need to be choices, or scrapped pretty much.

People just make industry alts for mining anyway, so I don't think it does anything to make the belief sliders any better. IMO all of them should be abolished.

That's true =\. My point was more if the personal beliefs are gonna stay they should at least be a choice, not something to start off as early game and switch to late game. But i do agree personal beliefs are pretty pointless and should probably just be scrapped.
