parchment goes poof if left on the ground, toss it in a cupboard no way to be sure the person checks that cupboard and gets it anyway, runestone next to bed is best way to go. as I said that sucks, so another form of communication for someone offline would be nice. even if its just pinning a note to someone's collar(parchment goes into thier inventory, message shows up when they wake up?).

In W5, we used birchbark baskets as mailboxes. Seemed to work alright.

You know what would be a good idea? If someone offered free, advertised based forum services so small groups of people that had no clue who each other were IRL and were as paranoid as all fuck to give out a drop email address to complete strangers could message each other.

Oh, wait, they already do that. Well, so much for that million dollar idea.

Doesn't private messaging completely destroy the need for something like this?
My son, walk not in the way unarmed; because thou knowest not when thy enemy shall come upon thee.

Not entirely. As it stands right now there's no way to leave a message for a person you have kinned in the game and is offline.

You could ask them for a Skype, Steam, or MSN(etc.)?

That is true if they don't have access to any of those, but birds.. aren't the best way to handle these issues.

Still, having an in game "mail" solution for messages is desirable, if not entirely "era" accurate.

Perhaps, but there are already opportunities to do this, such as parchment, runestones, et cetera.

Exactly. Every village I've been in did this.
