We need no bridges at all for the simple reason also mentioned above. It will block every single waterway.
Just give us a makeshift raft or a 2 man boat.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Um, but let's get down to what matters. How will it work?

1. The Problem
Currently there is no way of crossing bridges without swimming, and swimming is terrifying and dangerous especially if you fall victim to things like misclicks and lag.
Players who do risk swimming get access to brand new shiny places but really have no way of bringing other players across.

"¿What? This would only make sense if there were bridges!!! I must have missed a dev update that had something worthwhile for once!"

Thank you for pointing out my silly mistake xD

Alright, so:

The Solution, Doubly Fixed
A bridge is built much in the same way as a fence, only you MUST have a matching bridge end-bit at the other side before you can start extending.
When you are building a bridge, it does NOT construct any kind of real structure except at the very ends possibly. What it does do is it (temporarily in the case of breaking/wearing-away bridges) converts the 'DEEP WATER' tile (requiring a boat, or swimming) into what is essentially a 'SHALLOW WATER' tile (allowing boats and people to pass freely). I have no idea what it would look like. Functionally I believe it would work out perfectly, but it might look weird and bad and yucky.
