Way2necrobump.

But this is a concern I too have had. Why must I use a primitive spit roast when I could use my massive, 31* in... Quality oven?

smokehouse thread was better

(at least before people [predictably] began overcomplicating the idea of a big oven for roasting meats)

yeah, despite it's very awesome derailment. Not to mention it would have application beyond cooked foods for processing (future) herbs and such.

Oven Improvements

Postby Peter » Sat Mar 13, 2010 11:55 pm

A reiteration of existing ideas:

The current Oven is cartoonish looking compared to the modern art style, and not nearly as phallic as it could be. I'm sure Jorb would love to rectify that. I think that while he's at it, it would be nice if they where given a smaller footprint, where given an animation to show that they are in use, and where given more cooking space.

Also, it would be nice to be able to put them indoors, even if we have to gloss over the lack of external chimneys. It would be nice to have something like a fireplace in my timber house, and from a mechanics perspective, it's nice to protect them from natural decay.

Oh, and maybe a pot-belly stove that can burn much longer than a fire and provides less light, but is good for cooking. Again, much of this has been suggested before, but now would be a great time to address it.
Surprise.

I support the idea of an indoor, smaller oven (there already is an animation, unless they removed the smoke). As is, the oven looks like the ones designed for pizzas, which would be a cool addition to the cooking menu. More space I can get behind too.

P.S. were not where.

Ovens do feel a bit cramped at only 2x2, especially compared to kilns which are HUGE inside, maybe if both were say 4x4? The indoor ovens could then be 2x2, though I'd give them a 2x1 floor-footprint like a wardrobe, making them look a like a brick pizza oven would be quite nice as well.

Why would you fuck something else in the process noob? Kilns aren't large. Go build a brick wall and tell me how kilns are big.

Agreed with Avu. Now I must go commit suicide.

In all seriousness, though, ovens are fucking tiny. Old-school ovens as depicted? 4x4. 3x3, at minimum. If you want a smaller oven, make it a 1-tile footprint and make it buildable inside.

Also, we have glass and we have boulders. Where the hell are the options for houses with windows and fireplaces?

Why the fuck can't you at least try not to come across as an melodramatic jackass? Oh no! he suggested making kilns smaller! :o
